The Massachusetts Dental Society’s Member Assistance Center (MAC) has received many calls regarding the federal Office for Civil Rights’ (OCR) final rule prohibiting health care entities that receive federal financial assistance from discrimination. As a service to our members, the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS) has prepared this Executive Summary and the corresponding supporting tools to assist members in understanding this final ruling and compliance requirements.

Section 1557 requires covered entities to post two notices:

1. Notice of nondiscrimination  
2. Taglines in the top 15 non-English languages offering translations services free of charge when needed
