As a philanthropic and charitable organization, the MDS Foundation seeks to enhance the oral health of individuals by providing grants for sustainable programs that improve access to dental care. Currently, three grant options are available. Access to Care Grants are designed to help larger facilities directly address access needs in the Commonwealth. Targeted Grants are designed to help smaller organizations increase access directly in their community. Ambassador Grants are designed to help MDS members give back to the communities they serve while partnering with colleagues or other oral health organizations.
The MDS Foundation Access to Care Grants are designed to distribute funds in various amounts to applicants located in Massachusetts for projects benefiting citizens of the Commonwealth. Priority is given to proposals that have measurable improvement goals, show strong community support for the project, and are innovative in nature.

The MDS Foundation's Targeted Grants provide funding to organizations or programs that want to increase access to dental care on a smaller scale than the larger Access to Care Grants. Targeted Grants are limited to $2,000 and are open to public organizations.
To date, the MDS Foundation Grant Program has awarded more than $450,000 to organizations to help increase access to oral care and education for underserved populations in the Commonwealth, generating sustainable oral care for more than 7,000 individuals.
